South Dakota Passes House Bill on Industrial Hemp — Update by Hemp, Inc.

industrial hemp, hemp, legalized hemp, South DakotaLAS VEGAS, NV–(Marketwired – Feb 9, 2016) – Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP) updates its shareholders today on industrial hemp bill HB-1054. Last week, the South Dakota House of Representatives approved a bill that would allow the cultivation of industrial hemp in the state of South Dakota, with a 57-11 vote. South Dakota is yet another state that is realizing the economical advantages of the hemp plant. Hemp, which can be used in the manufacturing of thousands of products, can increase jobs and provide additional revenue for farmers and the state thereby creating a “significant economic development opportunity”.

According to the bill (HB-1054) “Industrial hemp (cannabis sativa l.), having no more than three-tenths of one percent tetrahydrocannabinol, is hereby designated an oilseed. Upon meeting the requirements of sections 2 to 5, inclusive, of this Act, any person in this state may plant, grow, harvest, possess, process, sell, and buy industrial hemp (cannabis sativa l.) having no more than three-tenths of one percent tetrahydrocannabinol. Any person desiring to grow or process industrial hemp for commercial purposes or research shall apply to the Department of Agriculture for a license on a form prescribed by the department in rules promulgated pursuant to chapter 1-26.” To read the full bill, visit the South Dakota Legislature here.

The bill is now set to head to the Senate for consideration. According to the Tenth Amendment Center blog post, “While current federal law authorizes only the research farming of hemp, by research institutions, South Dakota’s HB 1054 just ignores federal prohibition and authorizes commercial hemp production anyway. South Dakota would thus join the continuously growing number other states, including Colorado, Oregon, South Carolina, Connecticut, Maine, North Dakota and Vermont, that have simply ignored federal prohibition and legalized industrial hemp production within their state borders.”

Other states have also started growing hemp, and 33 states have proposed pro-hemp legislation. See Hemp, Inc.’s press release on 1/29/2016 regarding Vermont, Kansas, Maine, Kentucky, Montana, Missouri, and Hawaii and Hemp, Inc.’s press release on 1/28/2016regarding Virginia.

Bruce Perlowin, CEO of Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP) said, “More often than not, we are seeing states unfold pro hemp legislature. This will inevitably create revenue for Hemp, Inc. and for farmers. Hemp, Inc. owns the only commercial hemp decorticator in the United States and we are gearing up an arsenal of portable decorticators that can be deployed to more and more farmers as they begin to grow hemp. Once testing and modifying of the machinery is complete, we’ll be able to ship the portable decorticators to farmers as well as provide seed and consultation. The seed and consultation opens yet another potential market for Hemp, Inc.”

Perlowin continued, “The portable decorticators are able to process fiber on site without having to ship hemp stalks to our facility in Spring Hope, North Carolina. This creates revenue for Hemp, Inc. and revenue for the farmers. Any farmer, in any state, interested in Hemp, Inc.’s portable decorticator machine can contact us at info@hempinc.com.”;

Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP) is also in the process of implementing the same portable technology by working with other equipment manufacturers for portable CBD extractors to bring to the farmers to help dramatically increase the ability for CBD production and thus revenue for the American small farm. Any farmer, in any state, interested in Hemp, Inc.’s portable CBD machines can contact Hemp, Inc. atinfo@hempinc.com.

Hemp, Inc. is also making a strong presence on the Hill. David Schmitt, COO of Hemp, Inc.’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Industrial Hemp Manufacturing, LLC met with Congressmen on Capitol Hill, in Washington, DC last week. Schmitt, along with several industry experts from the National Hemp Association (NHA) including Zev Paiss (Executive Director – NHA); Samantha Walsh (Co-Chair – NHA), Mark Spoone (CEO – Canna Life USA); Mike Lewis (Hemp Farmer from Kentucky); and, Steve Gordon (Managing Partner of Total Spectrum and veteran lobbyist) first met with Jason L. Cooke, Senior Legislative Assistant to Congressman George Holding (R-NC).

After meeting with Congressman Holding’s office, the hemp team met with J.T. Mackey, Legislative Assistant to Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL). During both meetings, Schmitt and others educated Congress on the vast uses for industrial hemp, the numerous products derived from industrial hemp, job creation and economic development.

Schmitt also attended the “Industrial Hemp Expo on Capitol Hill” event in Washington, DC, hosted by Colorado Rep. Jared Polis along with Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden, Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer and Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016. The expo helped foster conversation among policymakers regarding industrial hemp economic potential.

Hemp, Inc. is definitely making a presence on the Federal level to educate the public and government body on the benefits of being able to legally cultivate hemp across the United States. Perlowin has also been making waves in the event and expo circuit. So much so that Perlowin’s presentation at the “Industrial Hemp Takes Manhattan” event on March 5, 2016 in snowy New York City was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict with another event he has to attend in the sunny state of Florida during the same time. Perlowin will still be encouraging and supporting the small family farm in an effort to help create a new, clean and green agricultural and industrial revolution in other upcoming events.

Moreover, on February 3, 2016, Perlowin was interviewed by Everett Jolly, CEO of UPTICK Network, an internet radio and podcast show where he discussed the rise in marijuana stocks (both past and future), uses of Hemp products, and recent developments with Hemp, Inc.’s decortication facility in Spring Hope, NC.
